Suppresses Token Ring Source Routing information for nodes attached to the local ring. Supersedes PTF2087. Symptom -------- - Various errors are observed by applications attempting to use the LLC2 or RAW interface modes with the ODI Network Interface Card drivers. - Even though Source Routing is not required for stations on the same ring, a station on the same ring that is not using Source Routing cannot communicate with the UnixWare station. SOLUTION SPECIFICS ------------------ General Description. ------------------- This patch installs a updated set of ODI core drivers (which implement the ODI framework to support ODI-compliant Network Interface Card drivers). The updated drivers correct several problems that have been observed when the LLC2 or RAW mode is used. The Token Ring Source Routing information field is now suppressed for nodes attached to the same ring. This PTF supersedes PTF2087 and includes all changes contained in it, as well as additional changes. New Features. ------------ None Software Notes and Recommendations. ---------------------------------- This PTF should be installed on all UnixWare 2.01, 2.02 or 2.03 systems. This PTF will need to be reinstalled following the installation (or reinstallation) of the Network Interface Card Support (nics) package (versions 2.01 to 2.03). Testing of the modified software contained in this package has been conducted only to the extent necessary to confirm that it resolves the problem(s) stated above ("Symptom"). Such testing consists of recreating the problem conditions and verifying that the problem no longer occurs. No other testing of this software has been done. Hardware Notes and Recommendations. ---------------------------------- This PTF is targeted for the i386, i486 and Pentium CPU's. Installation Instructions. ------------------------- A system reboot will be needed following the installation of this PTF.
