The second attempt is successful. SOLUTION SPECIFICS ------------------ General Description. ------------------- This patch installs an updated X Display Manager which corrects a problem encountered by many users when using the graphical login screen. The problem occurs after the internal screen saver has blanked the screen and is due to the user's having pressed the space bar (a common practice) to restore the screen. To eliminate the problem, the X Display Manager now ignores any leading spaces in the login string. New Features. ------------ None Software Notes and Recommendations. ---------------------------------- This PTF should be installed on all UnixWare 2.01, 2.02 or 2.03 (when available) systems which have the Desktop Manager (desktop) package installed. Testing of the modified software contained in this package has been conducted only to the extent necessary to confirm that it resolves the problem(s) stated above ("Symptom"). Such testing consists of recreating the problem conditions and verifying that the problem no longer occurs. No other testing of this software has been done. Hardware Notes and Recommendations. ---------------------------------- This PTF is targeted for the i386, i486 and Pentium CPU's. Installation Instructions. ------------------------- This PTF cannot be installed while the X Display Manager is running. To terminate the X Display Manager, click on the "Exit" button on the login screen. Then login at the console as "root" and install the PTF. After the installation is complete, the X Display Manager can be restarted with the command /usr/bin/start_glogin.
