NOTE: This supplement is NOT SUPPORTED. It is provided "AS-IS" to knowledgeable users as a courtesy. SYMPTOM No graphical utility to ping or resolve IP addresses SOLUTION Apply the resolvip file. DATATYPE: file 1. Download the resolvip.tar and resolvip.txt files to the /tmp directory on your machine. 2. Read the solution specifics area below for specific instructions for the resolvip.tar file. Solution Specifics General ------- This utility relies on the nslookup and ping utilities as they are found in /usr/sbin. The utility does not make any modifications to any existing or future configuration file. Installation Instructions: ----------------- After untarring the file, you should find several files. You will need to run installres.sh as root. This installation script will create an Icon and move the executible (resolvip) to /usr/X/bin. A soft link will then get created to your existing home directory from /usr/X/bin/resolvip. To run resolvip, simply click on the resolvip icon.
