Dear SCO Customer, The enclosed Support Level Supplement (SLS) PTF3182, the Networking Printing Supplement, resolves known problems encountered with network printing. SLS PTF3182 replaces the following two binaries: /usr/lib/lp/lpsched /usr/lib/lp/lpNet SLS PTF3182 will only install if the Network Support Utilities 'nsu' package has also been installed. The specific network printing problems addressed by SLS PTF3182 are: - Certain commands display the incorrect year or errors after the year 2000; - Dialup printing over TCP doesn't work; - Cannot print to non-Unix remote spooler using local filter; - Remote printing to NT box only works 1st time, the rest are queued; - Problem with Auto-authentication for lpNet, fails, coredumps; - Printq status for bsd printers not updated until all jobs done; - When using lpr to remote Xerox printer, lpnet does not close; - Two print queues sending to the same remote machine. Disabling one of the two queues can sometimes be ignored; - Cannot print from NT to UnixWare. Become root and create a new directory by typing the following: $ su (Password: ) # mkdir /tmp/pkg # chmod 700 /tmp/pkg # cd /tmp/pkg 2. Download the ptf3182.Z and the ptf3182.txt files to the newly created /tmp/pkg directory on your machine. 3. Read the Release Notes contained in the ptf3182.txt file. 4. Add the package to your system using the following commands: # zcat /tmp/pkg/ptf3182.Z | pkgadd -d - Alternately, you can uncompress PTF3182 and install it as follows: # uncompress ptf3182.Z # pkgadd -d /tmp/pkg/ptf3182 5. lpsched should not be running during the installation of PTF3182 and can be restarted after the installation.
