This update modifies the X server and kernel routines that deal with the keyboard and PS/2-style mice. The modified routines will reset the mouse when switching display screens, preventing the mouse from displaying "wild" behavior (button pushes perceived as movement, movements perceived as button pushes). The modified routines also prevent an occasional lock-up when zooming to a full screen from a desktop DOS window. SYMPTOM PS/2 type mouse goes "wild", window zoomed to full screen "locks-up" SOLUTION Apply the ptf616 file. Installation Instructions: DATATYPE: datastream 1. Download the ptf616.Z and ptf616.txt files to the /tmp directory on your machine. 2. Read the release notes contained in this file. 3. Now become root, uncompress the file and add the package to your system using the following commands: $ su # uncompress /tmp/ptf616.Z # pkgadd -d /tmp/ptf616 ptf616 Solution Specifics General Description ------------------- These release notes acquaint you with the contents of the UnixWare PTF616 patch for UnixWare 1.1. New Features ------------ A statement was added to a kernel routine to reset the state of the PS-2 mouse when switching displays. Display switches occur when zooming to full screen in DOS/Windows, or when a desktop user logs in from the text prompt on the console. The keyboard routines were modified to prevent the machine from hanging when zooming to full screen DOS from a desktop DOS window. NOTE: This patch is replaced by update 1.1.2 Hardware Notes and Recommendations ---------------------------------- None Installation instructions ------------------------- Place the diskette in the drive, and at the shell prompt type pkgadd -d diskette1 DO NOT use the desktop installation procedure. After the package has been successfully installed, reboot the machine by executing: cd / shutdown -i6 -y -g0 Troubleshooting --------------- Try exiting the graphical login process (press Exit button) and logging in as a desktop user. Make sure the mouse does not go "wild". Try this several times. Also, try zooming from a desktop DOS window to a full-screen window.
