Now become root, uncompress the file and add the package to your system using the following commands: $ su # uncompress /tmp/ptf277.Z # pkgadd -d /tmp/ptf277 ENGINEERING RELEASE NOTES ------------------------- Title ----- PTF277 - Syslogd Patch Product And Version ------------------- UnixWare 1.1.2 Abstract -------- Corrects a variety of problems reported about /usr/sbin/syslogd. Symptom -------- The most commonly observed problems are erroneous timestamps, memory leaks and missing messages. SOLUTION SPECIFICS ------------------ General Description. ------------------- This patch is a distribution of the UnixWare 1.1.3 version of /usr/sbin/syslogd. This version contains numerous fixes for a variety of problems that have observed when using previous versions. New Features. ------------ None Software Notes and Recommendations. ---------------------------------- This PTF is intended for UnixWare 1.1.2 systems which have the Network Support Utilities (nsu) package installed and which have encountered problems and errors when running /usr/sbin/syslogd. Testing of the modified software contained in this package has been conducted only to the extent necessary to confirm that it resolves the problem(s) stated above ("Symptom"). Such testing consists of recreating the problem conditions and verifying that the problem no longer occurs. No other testing of this software has been done.
