Download the ptf270 and ptf270.txt files to the /tmp directory on your machine. 2. Read the release notes contained in this file and follow the instuctions to add the package to your system. 3. Now become root, and add the package to your system using the following commands: $ su # pkgadd -d /tmp/ptf270 ENGINEERING RELEASE NOTES ------------------------- Title ----- PTF270 - Fix -C option to xterm Product And Version ------------------- UnixWare 1.1.3 and UnixWare 1.1.4 Abstract -------- This PTF installs a new version of xterm that properly handles the -C (console logging) option. Symptom -------- When invoked with the -C (console logging) while the 'syslogd' program is running on the system the xterm command does not display messages sent to /dev/conslog. SOLUTION SPECIFICS ------------------ General Description. ------------------- Display messages logged via the syslog() functions onto the xterm screen when -C option is used. The 'syslogd' program must be running for messages to be logged onto the console or the xterminal. New Features. ------------ None Software Notes and Recommendations. ---------------------------------- This PTF can be installed on UnixWare 1.1.3 and 1.1.4 systems. Testing of the modified software contained in this package has been conducted only to the extent necessary to confirm that it resolves the problem(s) stated above ("Symptom"). Such testing consists of recreating the problem conditions and verifying that the problem no longer occurs. No other testing of this software has been done.
