Abstract -------- Installs a new crash utility that correctly handles the Pentium 4MB Page Size Extensions. Symptom -------- Immediately upon being invoked, crash prints the message: ... is an invalid address and exits. SOLUTION SPECIFICS ------------------ General Description. ------------------- When used to analyze a system memory image (either active or crashed) of a system with Update 1.1.3 installed and a Pentium processor, crash is unable to map virtual addresses to physical addresses due to the difference in the page tables. This patch installs a new crash utility with changes to correctly interpret the modified page tables. New Features. ------------ None Software Notes and Recommendations. ---------------------------------- This patch should be installed on all UnixWare 1.1.3 systems that have the Advanced Commands (cmds) package installed. Testing of the modified software contained in this package has been conducted only to the extent necessary to confirm that it resolves the problem(s) stated above ("Symptom"). Such testing consists of recreating the problem conditions and verifying that the problem no longer occurs. No other testing of this software has been done.
