Now become root, uncompress the file and add the package to your system using the following commands: $ su # uncompress /tmp/ptf242.Z # pkgadd -d /tmp/ptf242 ENGINEERING REALEASE NOTES -------------------------- Title ----- PTF242 - Patch for PANIC When Receiving Broadcast Messages Product And Version -------------------------- UnixWare 1.1.2, UnixWare 1.1.3, UnixWare 1.1.4. Abstract -------- Installs a new NCP driver correcting a potential PANIC on receiving broadcast messages from a NetWare server. Symptom -------- The NCPsiGetBroadcastMessage() routine calls strcpy() with a NULL pointer as the second argument, causing a PANIC. SOLUTION SPECIFICS ------------------ General Description. ------------------- This PTF corrects an error in the handling of broadcast messages by the NCP (nwncp) driver. New Features. ------------ None Software Notes and Recommendations. ---------------------------------- This PTF should be installed on all UnixWare 1.1.2, 1.1.3 or 1.1.4 systems which have the NetWare Unix Client (nuc) package installed. If this PTF is first installed on a UnixWare 1.1.2 (1.1.3) system and Update 1.1.3 or 1.1.4 is subsequently installed, reinstallation of this PTF will be needed (it is not necessary to remove it before reinstalling). Testing of the modified software contained in this package has been conducted only to the extent necessary to confirm that it resolves the problem(s) stated above ("Symptom"). Such testing consists of recreating the problem conditions and verifying that the problem no longer occurs. No other testing of this software has been done.
