ABSTRACT:

This file contains ptf240 - Slink Patch for UnixWare 1.1.2.  This patch
installs a updated /usr/sbin/slink command. This patch is recommended for
UnixWare 1.1.2.
  
SYMPTOM

When using a driver that validates the service requested in the 
DL_BIND_REQ, initialization of the TCP/IP stack fails with the 
error message "DL_ERROR_ACK/DL_BIND_ACK (7)".

SOLUTION

Apply the ptf240 file.

Installation Instructions:

DATATYPE: datastream

1.  Download the ptf240.Z and ptf240.txt files to the /tmp directory  
    on your machine.

2.  Read the release notes contained in this file and follow the
    instuctions to add the packages to your system.

3.  Now become root, uncompress the file and add the package to your 
    system using the following commands:

        $ su
        # uncompress /tmp/ptf240.Z
        # pkgadd -d /tmp/ptf240 ptf240

Solution Specifics

General Description.
-------------------

This patch installs a modified /usr/sbin/slink command that correctly 
sets dl_service_mode to DL_CLDLS (requesting the connectionless data 
link service) in the DL_BIND_REQ primitive.

This PTF should be installed on all UnixWare 1.1.2 systems which also 
have the Internet Utilities package (inet) installed.

----------------------------------

This PTF is targeted for the i386, i486 and Pentium CPU's.

Installation Instructions.
-------------------------

This PTF consists of 1 3.5 inch floppy.  Insert the floppy into the 
drive and, while logged in as root, type

     pkgadd -d diskette1

and follow the instructions output by pkgadd.
