Title: README.TXT file for UnixWare 1.1 Intel EtherExpress(TM) PRO/100 driver Date : 25-Jul-95 Rev : 1.2 ------------------------------------------------------------------ This file accompanies e100u1.pkg, which is in datastream format. !!!IMPORTANT NOTES!!! -- Before installing in an EISA UnixWare system, run the EISA configuration utility (ECU) for your system to install the adapter. Remember to write down the slot the adapter is installed in and the interrupt (IRQ) the adapter is using. -- After following the installation instructions below, remember to run: /etc/confnet.d/configure -i This configures the new network hardware on your system. INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS ========================= There are two ways of installing driver support for the EtherExpress PRO/100: 1. Install from the command line, or 2. Install from the X Window environment Installing from the command line is usually the quickest. Installing from the Command Line -------------------------------- First, you must be the root user before installing. Then follow these steps: 1) Copy e100u1.pkg to the /tmp directory on your hard drive using either cp or doscp. 2) Run the pkgadd command: pkgadd -d /tmp/e100u1.pkg 3) The installer will ask you how many EtherExpresss PRO/100 adapters are in your system, what each adapter's BUS type is (EISA or PCI) and what interrupt (IRQ) and slot each adapter is using (IRQ and slot are unnecessary for PCI adapters.) 4) Configure the IP parameters for the EtherExpress PRO/100 by typing: /etc/confnet.d/configure -i NOTE: If you install multiple EtherExpress PRO/100 adapters in your system after installing a single adapter, you must remove and then reinstall the e100u1 package. Installing from the X Window environment ---------------------------------------- Follow these steps: 1) Copy the e100u1.pkg file to a /tmp directory using either cp, doscp, or the window interface. 2) In a command window, type: pkgtrans /tmp/e100u1.pkg /var/spool/pkg e100u1 This converts the file from datastream format to file system format. 3) Go to the 'System Setup' folder (make sure you are logged in as the system owner) and run 'Appl-n Setup.' Follow this path: - 'View' - 'Uninstalled Appl'ns' - 'Other' - Select the directory where e100u1 is listed - Select 'e100u1' again - 'Application' - 'Install' 4) The installer will ask you how many EtherExpresss PRO/100 adapters are in your system, what each adapter's BUS type is (EISA or PCI) and what interrupt (IRQ) and slot each adapter is using (IRQ and slot are unnecessary for PCI adapters.) 5) Configure the IP parameters for the EtherExpress PRO/100 by typing: /etc/confnet.d/configure -i NOTE: If you install multiple EtherExpress PRO/100 adapters in your system after installing a single adapter, you must remove and then reinstall the e100u1 package.
