Dear SCO Customer, Support Level Supplement (SLS) PTF4031A, the X Server Keyboard Mapping Supplement, provides a modified X server that fixes key mapping problems when using the X server on non-U.S. keyboards. Specific examples of the problems include (but are not limited to): 1. A German keyboard has the Y and Z keys swapped. 2. A French keyboard has the Q, A, and Z keys in the same place as the U.S. keyboard layout; the M key does not work at all. Problems have also been reported with Belgian and Italian keyboards, and there may also be problems with other non-U.S. keyboards. SLS PTF4031A contains: /usr/X/bin/X The release notes displayed prior to installation can be found in: /var/sadm/pkg/ptf4031/install/ptf4031.txt Software Notes and Recommendations ---------------------------------- SLS PTF4031A should only be installed on: SCO UnixWare Application Server Release 2.1.3 SCO UnixWare Personal Edition Release 2.1.3 Installation Instructions ------------------------- 1. Download the ptf4031a.Z file to the /tmp directory on your machine. 2. As root, uncompress the file and add the SLS package to your system using these commands: $ su Password: # uncompress /tmp/ptf4031a.Z # pkgadd -d /tmp/ptf4031a # rm /tmp/ptf4031a 3. There is no need to reboot the system after installing this SLS package. The fixes will take effect once the X server has been restarted. Removal Instructions -------------------- 1. As root, remove the SLS package using these commands: $ su Password: # pkgrm ptf4031 2. There is no need to reboot the system after removing this SLS package.
