Dear SCO Customer, Support Level Supplement (SLS) PTF4020A, the SCO UnixWare Dumpcheck Supplement, enables the system administrator to configure dumpcheck to interrogate chosen devices to see if they contain a crash dump image. SLS PTF4020A resolves the problem where the system does not prompt to save the dump image after a panic on systems running Online Data Manager (ODM) with encapsulated, mirrored root disks because the mirrors are not synced due to the panic. SLS PTF4020A adds a new file, /etc/dumptab, which is configured with dumpslice information. PTF4020A also provides a new version of dumpcheck that checks the devices in /etc/dumptab for dump images, and prompts to save the dump image if one is found. /etc/dumptab uses the same syntax as /etc/swaptab [see swaptab(4) for more information] and is shipped with commented out default entries as follows: #dumpdevname offset(in blocks) size(in blocks) #/dev/dsk/c0b0t0d0s2 0 - #/dev/dsk/c0b0t0d0s6 0 - The system administrator adds the appropriate device for the dumpslice in the above format. SLS PTF4020A contains: /etc/dumptab /sbin/dumpcheck /sbin/dumpsave Software Notes and Recommendations ---------------------------------- SLS PTF4020A should only be installed on: SCO UnixWare Application Server Release 2.1.0, 2.1.1, 2.1.2, 2.1.3 SCO UnixWare Personal Edition Release 2.1.0, 2.1.1, 2.1.2, 2.1.3 Installation Instructions ------------------------- 1.
