Dear SCO Customer, The enclosed Support Level Supplement (SLS) PTF3241, the rpcbind Supplement, corrects a problem which prevented SCO UnixWare 2.1.1 with SLS PTF3123 and SCO UnixWare 2.1.2 systems from accepting RPC Version 3 incoming calls. SLS PTF3241 corrects rpcbind to accept both RPC Version 3 and 4 incoming calls. Previously, when sending rpc calls the system defaulted to RPC Version 4, but if that failed it automatically reverted to RPC Version 3. The reverse should have been the same, but when receiving rpc calls the system defaulted to RPC Version 4. If that failed, it didn't revert to RPC Version 3. Following are examples of the error messages: # rpcinfo -T tcp rpcinfo:rpc: misc tli error -an event requires attention. # dfshares nfs dfshares: RPC: Timed out # mount nfs mount: : server not responding: RPC: Timed out Software Notes and Recommendations ---------------------------------- PTF3241 should only be installed on these releases: SCO UnixWare Application Server Release 2.1.1, 2.1.2 SCO UnixWare Personal Edition Release 2.1.1, 2.1.2 Installation Instructions ------------------------- 1.
