Dear SCO Customer The enclosed Support Level Supplement (SLS) PTF3216, the UnixWare 'dow_iowait' Supplement, resolves an issue where processes can hang permanently when accessing an SFS filesystem which is 80% full. Running crash(1M) shows one or more processes hung in the kernel function 'dow_iowait()'. The /etc/conf/pack.d/sfs/Drivers in SLS PTF3216 have been modified to correct this issue. Software Notes and Recommendations ---------------------------------- SLS PTF3216 may be installed on: SCO UnixWare Application Server Release 2.1.0, 2.1.1 and 2.1.2 SCO UnixWare Personal Edition Release 2.1.0, 2.1.1 and 2.1.2 SLS PTF3216 modifies these files: /etc/conf/pack.d/sfs/Driver_atup.o /etc/conf/pack.d/sfs/Driver_mp.o /usr/ucb/ps Hardware Notes and Recommendations ---------------------------------- SLS PTF3216 is targeted for the i386, i486 and Pentium CPUs. Installation Instructions ------------------------- 1. Become root and create a new directory by typing the following: $ su Password: # mkdir /tmp/pkg # chmod 700 /tmp/pkg # cd /tmp/pkg 2. Download the ptf3216.Z and the ptf3216.txt files to the newly created /tmp/pkg directory on your machine. 3. Read the Release Notes contained in the ptf3216.txt file. 4. Uncompress the file and add the package to your system using these commands: # uncompress /tmp/pkg/ptf3216.Z # pkgadd -d /tmp/pkg/ptf3216 Removal Instructions --------------------- 1. Become root and remove the package by typing these commands: $ su # pkgrm ptf3216 2. Reboot the machine.
