Dear SCO Customer,

The enclosed Support Level Supplement (SLS) PTF3112, the IDE Disk Setup 
Enabler Supplement, installs an updated sd01(7) PDI disk target driver 
that corrects a problem where disk parameters from the primary boot drive 
cannot be used to build a secondary boot drive. 

The PDI disk target driver is the device-level driver for SCSI hard disks, 
SCSI optical disks, and ESDI/ST506/IDE/MFM integral disks. For SCO UnixWare
Release 2.1.0 and 2.1.1, the disksetup(1M) utility cannot be used to clone 
a disk that is capable of being booted.  The updated PDI disk target driver 
installed with SLS PTF3112 allows translated values to be used for the second 
disk drive, as well as the first disk drive for IDE type disks. SLS PTF3112
will not enable the feature for SCSI type disks.


Software Notes and Recommendations

PTF3112 should only be installed on these releases:

        SCO UnixWare Application Server Release 2.1.0
        SCO UnixWare Application Server Release 2.1.1
        SCO UnixWare Application Server Release 2.1.2
        SCO UnixWare Personal Edition Release 2.1.0
        SCO UnixWare Personal Edition Release 2.1.1
        SCO UnixWare Personal Edition Release 2.1.2


Installation Instructions
-------------------------

1. Become root and create a new directory by typing the following:
 
     $ su
     Password: <type your root password>
     # mkdir /tmp/pkg
     # chmod 700 /tmp/pkg
     # cd /tmp/pkg

2. Download the ptf3112.Z and the ptf3112.txt files to the newly
   created /tmp/pkg directory on your machine.
 
3. Read the Release Notes contained in the ptf3112.txt file.
 
4. Uncompress the file and add the package to your system using these
   commands:
 
     # uncompress /tmp/pkg/ptf3112.Z
     # pkgadd -d /tmp/pkg/ptf3112 

5. Reboot the system after installing this SLS.


Removal Instructions
---------------------

1. Become root and remove the package by typing these commands:

     $ su
     Password: <type your root password>
     # pkgrm ptf3112

2. Reboot the system after removing this SLS.
