Dear SCO Customer, The enclosed Support Level Supplement (SLS) PTF3096, the cron Utilities Enhancement Supplement, corrects the problem of intermittent 'cron' failure in SCO UnixWare Release 2.1.1 and 2.1.0. cron and at jobs fail intermittently when trying to open /etc/cron.d/NPIPE, causing the error message "Cannot open message queue" to occur. The failure occurs when two processes try to open NPIPE simultaneously. The new version of cron utilities allows the open system call to execute until it succeeds. Since this change affects the at, atrm, and crontab commands, the entire set of 'cron' utilities is contained in SLS PTF3096.
