The F10 computer (ROM Bios) setup utility for this model normally resides on the hard drive on a special partition.  Pressing the F10 key during boot when the cursor flashes in the upper right of the display/monitor will bring up this utility.  If this does not happen, then the utility is damaged or is not installed.

Then it would be necessary to download the F10 setup file from the Compaq Internet site to the hard drive of this or some other computer.  Execute the executable file and read the instructions or read the associated Text/Help file shown above.  The result will be one or more bootable disk that can be used to boot the computer into the Bios setup utility.  This Setup boot disk can be used any time that the computer Bios/Cmos setup needs to be changed.  The special F10 partition can be restored to the hard drive to restore use of the F10 key to activate it.  To do this would require the disk drive to be cleaned by running Fdisk and Format and starting over with the drive (this would remove all data from the drive).  This is usually not worth it to simply have the ability to press the F10 key to run the setup when it can be run at any time by booting to the bootable setup disk.

The next time the drive is rebuilt or if it is replaced, then the utility can be added at that time.  To do this, remove all partitions from the drive and then boot to the bootable setup disk.  The utility will recognize that there are no partitions on the drive and ask if it is the intention to install the F10 partition.  If this question is answered with yes to this then the partition will be created.  The computer will reboot and install the utility (if the setup disk was left in the A:\ drive).

This F10 setup specifically covers Compaq Deskpro PCI, ProLinea PCI, ProLinea E Pentium (or 5xx) Series, and Deskpro 2000 non-MMX Series.

Note:  This F10 Setup is not for use with Compaq Deskpro 2000MMX, 4000 Series, Deskpro 6000 Series, ProLinea 6150e, and ProLinea 6180.
