Enhancements/Fixes: Firmware 3.4.15: Improves V.90 performance. Supports the latest Rockwell DSP code 4732. Fixes Plug and Play timing for mouse port conflicts with Windows NT. Some Fax commands result codes have been corrected. Offers new country selections for Western Europe and European Union. Blacklisting is supported for Western European countries. Cellular operation is not automatic when receiving a cellular call. Boot code 3.0.8: Allows update to firmware V.90 code with FIRMUP.EXE HOW TO USE: 1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to that directory. The file that is downloaded is a self-extracting executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above. 2. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to unpack the files. The number of files to be created and total file size is displayed. You will be given the chance to specify the target directory for the files, or default to the download directory. 3. After the files have been created, you may delete the self-extracting file downloaded in step 1. 4. From the drive and directory chosen in step 2, execute FIRMUP.EXE (this program detects the modem to verify that the upgrade should be applied). 5. Select 510 56K Ext Fax Modem, select Update... 6. Select file M3415.510 from the directory used in step 2, select OK. 7. You will then be prompted with "We are now ready to update your modem firmware Click to Proceed." Select Continue. 8. When Modem Status says "Firmware update OK," select Close. 9. NOTE: If you have installed V.90 firmware version 3.4.5 or later, then the file B308.510 has already been installed. You can use Hyper Terminal or other terminal package and issue AT^V to verify. Or, you can now skip to step 17. Open Hyper Terminal (or use another terminal package to do similar steps) a. Select Start b. Select Programs c. Select Accessories d. Choose Hyper Terminal e. Open Hypertrm.exe 10. For Name, type Upgrade. Select OK. 11. For Number, type 123. Select OK, then Cancel. 12. Type AT^H enter 13. Open Transfer Menu, then choose Send Text File. 14. Find the file B308.510 in the directory from step 2 (choose Files of type: All Files (*.*) ) 15. The modem will then respond with "Modem boot Upgrade complete" when it has finished. 16. Close Hyper Terminal. 17. Obtain the Compaq Microcom 510 56K External Fax Modem Installation Diskette Version 2.00 or later. This diskette is available on Compaq's website as SoftPaq SP9993.EXE. You must download this file and expand it to a diskette. Also download the file SP9993.TXT, which explains how to create the Installation Diskette. 18. When you have created the Installation Diskette, you will find instructions for how to install programs in the Compaq Microcom 510 56K External Fax Modem Getting Started Guide.
