SOFTPAQ NUMBER: SP8904 PART NUMBER: 276190-008 FILE NAME: N/A TITLE: Workstation Fire GL 4000 Drivers for Windows NT 4.0 VERSION: 4.00.1381.2221 Rev C LANGUAGE: English CATEGORY: Drivers DIVISIONS: Workstations PRODUCTS AFFECTED: Compaq Professional Workstation 5100, 6000, 8000, or AP400 using the Fire GL 4000 3D+ Graphics Controller NOTE: The Fire GL 4000 3D+ Graphics Controller is standard on selected Workstation models, but could be an option installed on other models. OPERATING SYSTEM: Microsoft Windows NT 4.0, Microsoft Windows 2000 SYSTEM CONFIGURATION: Fire GL 4000 3D+ Graphics Controller PREREQUISITES: N/A EFFECTIVE DATE: September 24, 1999 ELECTRONIC DISTRIBUTION ALLOWED: Yes SOFTPAQ UTILITY VERSION: 2.X SUPERSEDES: SP8605, SP7758 DESCRIPTION: Creates the diskette, "Workstation Fire GL 4000 Drivers for Windows NT 4.0," which contains the Windows NT 4.0 drivers for the graphics controller used in affected Professional Workstations (see PRODUCTS AFFECTED). - Adds support for Windows 2000. - Fixes features in the following applications: - New Tree for FGL4K J1 and J1A together (FGL4K and FGL5K) - GDI Stress Fix in 2D source '2dddi\jup\j1\jvUtils' L. 347ff (jupfDrawFillFast) - WHQL Short regression Fix in '2dddi\jup\jup2dutils' L.1781ff (jupfGetBits). From now on new tree in VSS for FIRE GL 4000 (FGL4K) - OpenGL GLCullFace: fix for bug #EDC-3F26. 'Inverse Alpha' for Avid Marquee (enabled when profile 'Avid Marquee' selected). New Configuration Panel: '8 Bit Overlay Planes' added. 'Number of OGL windows exceed hw clipped windows' bug fix (Marquee Bug). Jup3dutils, fct. pffSwapWindowIDBits. Marquee: Marquee test for the maximum texture size by using GL_PROY_TEXTURE_2D, but later requests at texture with the maximum size and border enabled. This failes because the hardware doubles the size of a texture when border is enabled. Therefore we limited the texture size to 512 and created a new Capabilites flag which can enable the 1024 texel big textures. - DSMPROF.DLL New Configuration panel (bug fix for bad version number in configuration panel). - INF file changes Settings for profile 'Catia' changed. New profile 'Aplicon Bravo' (Compaq request) - GLUT Examples fix FIRE12 (CATIA) BITFONT (GLColorInitializeToWhite) - Windows 2000 Fix Problems w. startup because there are two 'AddService' lines in 'inf' file. Fixed w. new 'inf' file. Panel 'Configuration' now via ESC calls instead of direct IOCTLs. - SingleBoard ProDesigner Bug in single board and single screen: BLUESCREEN because of a non reinitialized pointer to the first window object in file 'pixelfmt.c'. - MultiBoard Texture doesn't always appear correct. Only trash is visible. The 'bEnabled' flag in file 'escape.c' which indicates weather we are in graphics mode or not was taken from the wrong board. - LightWave Fix The system calls a copy function for each pixel and so it runs very slow. In function MulCopyBits in file 'multi.c' Added a fast 'from screen' part which is 80 times faster! - 2D CATIA 5: multiple OGL client windows caused corruption of 2D framebuffer content (wrong WIDs). Avid Marquee Profile: Removed 'Inverse Alpha' fix from 2218, cause it's NOT doing what it is supposed to do (due to HW limitation of E&S chip) - 'Inverse Alpha' for Avid Marquee (enabled when profile 'Avid Marquee' selected). New Configuration Panel: '8 Bit Overlay Planes' added HOW TO USE: 1. Obtain 1 formatted 1.44-MB diskette. 2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to that directory. The file that is downloaded is an executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above. 3. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions. You will be prompted to insert the formatted diskette in a drive to create the diskette. 4. After the diskette has been created, you may delete the SoftPaq file downloaded in step 2. 5. To Install, refer to README.TXT on the created diskette. Copyright 1998, Compaq Computer Corporation. All rights reserved.
