A user can specify a scheduled time to turn off the lights on a monitor when it is not being used. It helps protect the monitor against retaining a "burn in" image on the display if the monitor is left on for a prolonged period. The Compaq Display LiteSaver was developed especially for customers such as investment houses who want the display to remain visible constantly during working hours, with or without keyboard activity, but want the screen blanked during specified off-business hours while the computer remains turned on. The Compaq Display LiteSaver can be set to run during a specified time period. For example, at 6:00 PM daily, the display is turned off. At 7:00 AM, it is automatically turned on again. If the OFF Extension is set to 10 minutes, the Compaq Display LiteSaver can be interrupted, but will turn off the display again after 10 minutes of inactivity. Enhancements/Fixes: - Major improvement from previous Compaq Display Saver, Version 1.00. Instead of using the system's screen saver, Ver 2.00 uses the energy-saving mode to blank the screen, preventing "burn in" and prolonging the life of an LCD monitor back-light. It also works with other monitors. HOW TO USE: 1. Download the SoftPaq to a temporary, empty directory on your hard drive. The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above. 2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to unpack the files into the download directory. 3. After the files have been created, you may delete the self-extracting file downloaded in step 1. 4. To install, run SETUP.EXE. For instructions on installing and using the utility, refer to README.TXT. 5. After the installation is completed, you may delete the files created in step 2 if you wish.
