SOFTPAQ NUMBER: SP8409 PART NUMBER: N/A FILE NAME: N/A FILE SIZE: 119 KB TITLE: Latin America Presario 5110 Fix for DVD VERSION: 1.0 LANGUAGE: Spanish CATEGORY: Fix DIVISIONS: Consumer PRODUCTS AFFECTED: Compaq Presario 5110 (Latin America) OPERATING SYSTEM: Microsoft Windows 98 SYSTEM CONFIGURATION: DVD drive installed, but unable to play DVD discs PREREQUISITES: You will need a "Region 4" (Latin America) DVD movie disc EFFECTIVE DATE: September 1, 1998 ELECTRONIC DISTRIBUTION ALLOWED: No (diskette only) SOFTPAQ UTILITY VERSION: N/A SUPERSEDES: N/A DESCRIPTION: This fix is only for a small number of Presario 5110 units in Latin America that are unable to play DVD discs. When the affected units are first taken out of the box and turned on, Windows 98 configures the DVD drive as a "Region 1" drive, which incorrectly indicates that it is for the US and Canada. The DVD Player software is correctly set to decode "Region 4" (Latin America) DVD discs. As a result, neither Region 4 nor Region 1 DVD discs can be played. This utility allows the user to reconfigure the region for Windows 98. So the user should use this utility to reconfigure the DVD drive for Region 4. HOW TO USE: 1. Copy the SP8403.EXE file to a directory on your hard drive or run it directly from the distribution diskette. 2. Execute SP8403.EXE and follow the on-screen instructions (written in Spanish) to install and configure all of the necessary software. 3. You will need to insert a Region 4 DVD movie disc when prompted. Wait for about 30 seconds or until the DVD Drive light is off. Then click Acceptar. 4. Verify that Region 4 is selected and click Aceptar. 5. You should then see the message La región se a cambiado satisfactoriamente a Region 4. Click Aceptar.
