Optionally allows a driver diskette to be created. NOTE: To determine whether your unit has the audio chipset supported by this driver, open an OS/2 Window and run the EINSTALL.EXE program included in the downloaded files. This program first runs ESDETECT.EXE to auto-detect the chip, then calls ESUNINST.EXE to remove old drivers. Enhancements/Fixes: - Fixed to support separate Win OS/2 sessions. HOW TO USE: 1. Download the SoftPaq to an empty directory on your hard drive. The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above. 2. From the download directory, execute the SoftPaq. When executed with no parameters, files are extracted into folders in the current directory. To extract the files into a different directory, specify the complete path of the directory as a parameter: SPxxxx Enter "Y" to confirm and files are unpacked into folders in the download directory or the directory specified. 3. After the directory has been created, you may delete the self-extracting file downloaded in step 1. 4. The driver may be installed directly from the files on the download directory or a driver diskette can be created. To create a driver diskette, run MAKEDISK.BAT. 5. To install: a) Open an OS/2 Window and run EINSTALL.EXE from the optional installation diskette or from the foler DISK_01 in the download directory. This program first runs ESDETECT.EXE to auto-detect the chip, then calls ESUNINST.EXE to remove old drivers. ESUNINST.EXE creates a backup of CONFIG.SYS named CONFIG.ESS and removes the audio device lines from CONFIG.SYS. It also creates a backup of MMPM2.INI named MMPM2.ESS and removes the audio drivers information from MMPM2.INI. In addition, it removes any other ESS driver information in COMPLIST.INI. Then the installation program calls the Multimedia Application Install program, MINSTALL.EXE. b) When the Multimedia Application Install program comes up, make sure a check mark indicates that ESS1869 AudioDrive is selected. If necessary, select that item with the mouse. Click the Install button to start the installation. After it finishes, ESCONFIG.EXE runs to update CONFIG.SYS if necessary. Shutdown OS/2 and restart the computer for the new ESS1869 drivers to take effect. 5. After the installation is completed, you may delete the temporary directory created in step 2.
