ProLiant 6500 (P11 03/04/99): SoftPAQ Release to support enabling Guaranteed Access Time (GAT) mode on the Intel PCEB ASIC. Certain EISA cards (specific case Madge EISA Network Cards) do not function properly if GAT mode is disabled. HOW TO USE: 1. Obtain a formatted 1.44 MB diskette. 2. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to that directory. The file that is downloaded is SP6191.EXE. 3. From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file: SP6191 [ENTER] You will be prompted to place the formatted 1.44 MB diskette into a diskette drive to create the diskette. 4. After the diskette is created, you may delete the downloaded file SP6191.EXE if you wish. ROMPaq Firmware Upgrade Instructions 1. Insert the ROMPaq diskette into the bootable diskette drive. 2. Turn unit off, then back on, to boot from the ROMPaq diskette. 3. After the ROMPaq utility has scanned the system for installed and supported devices, a screen appears indicating the ROMPaq diskette version. Press Enter. 4. A list of images installed and supported by this version of the ROMPaq Firmware Upgrade diskette will then be displayed. Press Enter to select the desired image on the list. 5. After pressing Enter, the utility will check to see if there is a newer firmware image available on the diskette for the selected device. If a newer firmware image IS NOT available on the diskette, the utility will display a message indicating this. In this case, press Enter and skip to step 8 below. If a newer firmware image IS available on the diskette, the utility will prompt you to "Select an image". Normally, there will only be a single firmware image to select, so press Enter to select the firmware revision shown. 6. When the utility asks whether it is OK to reprogram the selected device(s), press Enter to proceed. IMPORTANT: Do not interrupt the Flash reprogramming process in any way, or the firmware on the device being programmed may be destroyed. **Do not turn off power** ** Do not remove or install hot-pluggable disk drives** 7. When the Flash process has completed, a message will be displayed. Press Enter to continue. (If an error occurs, contact Compaq Technical Support.) 8. The utility will ask you to confirm that you want to continue. Press Enter to continue. 9. When prompted, remove the ROMPaq diskette from the floppy drive and power cycle the system.
