SOFTPAQ NUMBER: SP5322 PART NUMBER: N/A FILE NAME: MGMTAPI.DLL TITLE: Update Compaq Insight Manager SNMP API for Windows NT 3.51 VERSION: 3.50 or earlier LANGUAGE: English CATEGORY: Systems/Software Solutions PRODUCTS AFFECTED: Compaq servers and workstations OPERATING SYSTEM: Microsoft Windows NT 3.51 SYSTEM CONFIGURATION: Compaq Insight Manager Version 3.50 or earlier EFFECTIVE DATE: 15 December 1997 ELECTRONIC DISTRIBUTION ALLOWED: Yes SOFTPAQ UTILITY VERSION: 2.x SUPERSEDES: N/A DESCRIPTION: Unpacks files that can be used to update the MGMTAPI.DLL file used by Compaq Insight Manager. A problem in the MGMTAPI.DLL file installed with Compaq Insight Manager 3.50 or earlier on servers or workstations running Microsoft Windows NT 3.51 causes certain SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol) API functions to always return "FALSE." The affected API functions are: SnmpMgrStrToOid() SnmpMgrOidToStr() This problem does not affect the functionality of Compaq Insight Manager, but could cause some SNMP applications requiring these API functions to fail. This update corrects the problem. HOW TO USE: 1. Download the SoftPaq to a temporary folder on your hard drive. The file that is downloaded is a self-extracting executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above. 2. From that drive and folder, execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to unpack the files. The number of files to be created and total file size is displayed. The files are: SP5322.TXT SETUP.CMD MGMTAPI.351 3. Execute the SETUP.CMD command file from the temporary folder created in step 1. The file MGMTAPI.DLL in your Windows NT SYSTEM32 folder (this is generally C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32) is renamed to MGMTAPI.TMP, and the updated file is copied into its place. 4. After the patch process is complete, you may delete the self- extracting file downloaded in step 1, as well as the unpacked files from step 2. 5. Shutdown and restart Window NT to activate the updated file. Copyright 1997, Compaq Computer Corporation. All rights reserved.
