SOFTPAQ NUMBER: SP5171 PART NUMBER: N/A FILE NAME: CPQSAVER.EXE TITLE: Compaq Display Saver VERSION: 1.00 LANGUAGE: English CATEGORY: Options/Software Solutions PRODUCTS AFFECTED: All Compaq monitors NOTE: Specially designed for users of the Compaq TFT500 Flat-Panel Monitor OPERATING SYSTEM: Microsoft Windows 95, Microsoft Windows NT 3.51, Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 SYSTEM CONFIGURATION: N/A EFFECTIVE DATE: 05 November 1997 ELECTRONIC DISTRIBUTION ALLOWED: Yes SOFTPAQ UTILITY VERSION: 3.x SUPERSEDES: N/A DESCRIPTION: Unpacks files needed to install the Compaq Display Saver, a system utility that adds custom capabilities to the standard Windows screen saver. All monitors have the potential to retain an image on the display if the monitor is left on for a prolonged period without a screen saver. Compaq recommends that customers use a screen saver or turn the the monitor off when not in use. The Compaq Display Saver was developed especially for customers such as investment houses who want the display to remain visible constantly during working hours, with or without keyboard activity, but want the screen blanked or running a screen saver during specified off-business hours while the computer remains turned on. The Compaq Display Saver runs in the background and controls when the screen saver is invoked and when the display is made visible. For example, it could be set to stop the screen saver at 7:00 AM and show the display, even though no operator touches a key. And it could be set to invoke the screen saver again at 6:00 PM so that monitor "burn-in" does not occur during the night. As with normal screen savers, it can be interrupted by keyboard or mouse activity, but the screen saver will resume after an interval of inactivity specified by the user. HOW TO USE: 1.
