SOFTPAQ NUMBER: SP5136 PART NUMBER: N/A FILE NAME: N/A TITLE: Documentation for Deskpro 4000N Windows 95 Remote System Installation from an Intel LCM Server VERSION: 1.00 Rev A LANGUAGE: US English CATEGORY: Desktops/Software Solutions PRODUCTS AFFECTED: Compaq Deskpro 4000N (all models) OPERATING SYSTEM: Microsoft Windows 95 SYSTEM CONFIGURATION: N/A EFFECTIVE DATE: 18 November 1997 ELECTRONIC DISTRIBUTION ALLOWED: Yes SOFTPAQ UTILITY VERSION: 3.x SUPERSEDES: N/A DESCRIPTION: Unpacks a Word document describing the procedures for installing Compaq-specific drivers and applications with Windows 95 onto a Deskpro 4000N client from an Intel LANDesk Configuration Manager (LCM) Server. Two new utilities from Compaq, the Operating System Installation Readiness Utility and the LCM ROM Flash Tools, are also described for use with LCM. The Deskpro 4000N is Compaq's new Network PC (or Net PC). Because it has no diskette drive, it requires a method of booting from a Net PC compliant server in order to perform a remote installation of the operating system and application files. The LANDesk Configuration Manager (LCM) Server performs this function. The procedures in this document require that drivers and other Compaq software be obtained from the Compaq Software Support CD or one of the online services. HOW TO USE: 1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive. The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable with a filename based on the Softpaq number above. 2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions. Entering "Y" to confirm the unpacking of files creates a new DISK1 directory folder in the downloaded directory. All files are unpacked into this newly created DISK1 directory. 3. After the directory has been created, you may delete the self-extracting file downloaded in step 1. 4. In the DISK1 directory are two files: README.TXT WP95FNL.DOC Copyright 1997, Compaq Computer Corporation. All rights reserved.
