SOFTPAQ NUMBER: SP5056 PART NUMBER: N/A FILE NAME: N/A TITLE: Compaq Support Software for Microsoft Windows NT 3.51 (Files rather than diskettes) VERSION: 1.26 Rev A LANGUAGE: English CATEGORY: Workstations/Drivers PRODUCTS AFFECTED: Compaq Professional Workstation 5000, 5100, 6000, and 8000; Compaq ProSignia and ProLiant Servers OPERATING SYSTEM: Microsoft Windows NT 3.51 SYSTEM CONFIGURATION: N/A EFFECTIVE DATE: 17 November 1997 SUPERSEDES: SP4340 DESCRIPTION: This SoftPaq creates two files -- a description file and a large self-extracting executable file. The self-extracting executable file contains Compaq Support Software for Microsoft Windows NT 3.51 that supports the subsystems and features listed below for Compaq Professional Workstations and ProLiant and ProSignia Servers. NOTE: This same software is available in SoftPaq SP5047 in a form that creates diskettes rather than copying installation files to the hard disk. Compaq Integrated Management Display Utility Compaq Recovery Server, Standby Agent with SMART-2 support Compaq Recovery Server, Online Agent with SMART-2 support Compaq Remote Insight Board driver Compaq Remote Insight Board WAN driver Compaq PCI Hot Plug Utility ProLiant Storage System System Management/Health driver NetFlex-3/Compaq Netelligent 10/100 TX Embedded UTP/Coax network adapter NetFlex-3/Compaq Netelligent 10/100 TX Embedded UTP/Coax network adapter monitoring, configuration, and duplex utility Compaq 10T PCI UTP and 10/100 TX PCI UTP IDA/IDA-2 disk controller SMART/SMART-2 array controller 32-Bit SCSI-2 Family of controllers Matrox Millennium/Millennium II video controller ELSA Gloria-L video controller Diamond Multimedia Fire GL 4000 Video Accelerator STB Systems MVP Workstation Display Controller ESS AudioDrive audio controller Compaq Support Software diskette Installation utility Enhancements/Fixes: For details, refer to NTREADME.HLP in the created support files. Brief new feature summaries for the various subsystems may also be provided in the SoftPaq overviews for SoftPaqs SP5049 - SP5058. This version primarily supports the Compaq Dual Channel Wide-Ultra SCSI-3 Controller and the Compaq ProLiant Storage System/U. It has been tested with and supports NT Server Enterprise Edition. Compaq Dual Channel Wide-Ultra SCSI-3 Controller This controller was designed primarily as a complimentary controller for high end tape solutions, like Compaq’s DLT Tape Array II and DLT Libraries; it provides support for the maximum number of devices possible while only taking up a single PCI slot. It delivers exceptional system performance along with two separate SCSI-3 channels. Compaq ProLiant Storage System/U The Compaq ProLiant Storage System/U is Compaq's latest edition to the ProLiant Storage System family. The ProLiant Storage System/U is defined as a disk storage box replacement for the original ProLiant Storage System. The difference between ProLiant Storage System and ProLiant Storage System/U is that this storage box supports SCSI Ultra speeds negotiation and the new Ultra speed disk drives. Compaq Hardware Abstraction Layer (HAL) -- HALMPS.DLL Fixed a resource conflict with bridged PCI devices such as the SMART-2 Array Controller and the Netelligent Dual 10/100 TX PCI UTP on the primary bus 0 of a Compaq ProLiant 3000, Compaq ProLiant 6500, or Compaq ProLiant 7000 in a multiprocessor environment under Windows NT 3.51. This resource conflict prevented the system from using the first bridged PCI device discovered in the primary PCI bus in SSD 1.25 Rev A and earlier. Compaq System Management Driver (SYSMGMT.SYS) Changed the policy for stopping at the F1 prompt for systems equipped with the Integrated Management Log. These systems will no longer stop at the F1 prompt on the next boot after the system encounters one or more critical errors. HOW TO USE: 1. Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to that directory. The file that is downloaded is a self-extracting executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above. 2. From that drive and directory, execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to unpack the files. The number of files to be created and total file size is displayed. You will be given the chance to specify the target directory for the files, or default to the download directory. The following files will be created: README.TXT NTSSD.EXE 3. After the files have been created, you may delete the self-extracting file downloaded in step 1. 4. From the directory in which the files are created, execute the self-extracting executable: NTSSD.EXE [ENTER] 5. Follow the instructions on the screen to extract (unzip) the support software files to a folder on your hard drive and run the program SETUP.EXE to install the software.
