TITLE: HP Session Allocation Manager

VERSION: 2.1.0 Rev. A
DESCRIPTION:
This software package contains the HP Session Allocation Manager (SAM)
installation files for the supported models and operating systems.

HP SAM manages the assignment of Microsoft Remote Desktop and HP Remote
Graphics Software connections from a user's access device (client) to a remote
computing resource (such as a blade PC).

HP SAM 2.1.0 supersedes previous 2.0 and 1.x versions. You should upgrade to

ENHANCEMENTS:
- Enables single-sign-on to multiple sessions.
- Adds Connection Bar feature, which enables users to quickly view session
status, disconnect one or all sessions, reconnect to a disconnected session, or
connect to additional sessions.
- Updates HP SAM to support inheritance of policies from different levels.
- Updates the HP Internet Explorer Based Client to provide a friendlier user
interface.
- Adds the ability to block or allow users with expired passwords to be
allocated to a session (if allowed, user is prompted to change password
immediately).
- Updates installation options to provide two methods for installing the HP SAM
SQL database: SQL authentication or the newly added Microsoft Windows
authentication.
- Adds HP SAM client support for new HP hardware.
- Updates the HP SAM Administrator Console to enable viewing of hardware and
software information for the access devices.
- Adds the ability for clients that are not managed through the multiple
sessions/multiple monitors (monitor layout ID) feature to be configured to
automatically connect to all dedicated (static) resources, non-public roles, or
public roles.
- Adds the ability for HP SAM Administrator Groups to be assigned to Active
Directory Security Groups.

NOTE: For detailed information about the listed enhancements, see the "HP SAM
2.1 Readme.htm" file that is included with the SoftPaq package.

PREREQUISITES:
- Microsoft .NET Framework version 2.0 must be installed on the HP SAM Web
server. Download this software from the Microsoft website and install it on the
HP SAM Web server prior to installing HP SAM 2.0. If you get an error message
relating to the .NET Framework 1.1 when accessing the HP SAM Administrator
Console, the HP SAM website was not configured to operate with .NET Framework
2.0.

To fix this issue:
1. Run the Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager.
2. Right-click the SAM website.
3. Select Properties.
4. Click the ASP.NET tab.
5. Select 2.0.50727 in the ASP.NET version list.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Download the EXE file to a directory on your hard drive.

2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.

INSTALLATION NOTES:
- Do not install HP SAM 2.1.0 if you have less than 1 GB of memory (which is
below the HP SAM requirement) on the HP SAM Web server.

- If you want to keep the HP SAM Web and SQL database installed on the same
server, do not clear SAM website from the list during the installation of
version 2.1.0. Doing so will uninstall the HP SAM website from the server.

- HP SAM 2.1.0 is compatible with previous HP SAM 2.0 and 1.x releases. You can
mix between 2.1.0, 2.0.0, and 1.x.x for the HP SAM client, blade service, and
Web server. When doing so, the environment steps down to the 1.x.x level
features in order to maintain compatibility. To fully take advantage of all the
available features, upgrade all HP SAM components to the same 2.x version. The
recommended order of upgrade is:
1. HP SAM Web/SQL server
2. HP SAM blade service
3. HP SAM client

- If you are upgrading from SAM 1.x or SAM 2.0 to SAM 2.1, make sure to follow
the instructions in the "HP SAM 2.1 Readme.htm" file.
