DESCRIPTION:
This package contains the System BIOS image (BIOS Family 786B9) and local and 
remote BIOS flash utilities for the HP xw9300 Workstation.

System BIOS is operating system independent. 

NOTE: HP xw9300 Workstations having system BIOS version 2.00 (or later), must 
be upgraded to NVIDIA IDE driver 553 (or later).

CAUTION: Optical storage devices are the only PATA peripherals supported on the 
HP xw9300 Workstation. The HP xw9300 workstation does NOT support PATA hard 
disk drives in any RAID or non-RAID configuration. If PATA RAID is currently 
being used on the HP xw9300 Workstation, do NOT upgrade to system BIOS 2.00 (or 
later) because of potentially serious side effects. For example, the PATA RAID 
drive may become unbootable, resulting in loss of data.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS:

1. Download the SoftPaq .EXE file to a directory on your hard drive.

2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to upgrade 
the System BIOS.

3. Download and run the SoftPaq Setup Utility for the NVIDIA IDE Driver 553 (or 
later).

NOTE: Look for the NVIDIA IDE Driver 553 (or later) SoftPaq on the HP website.

4. Accept the option to restart (reboot) the system after the NVIDIA IDE Driver 
553 (or later) is installed.

NOTE: The system does not reboot automatically. Power the workstation Off and 
then Power On the workstation to restart the system after upgrading to the 
NVIDIA IDE Driver 553 (or later).
