FIXES: 
- Fixes intermittent issue where hard drive is not detected during startup 
(boot) or when resuming from Standby (S3) or Hibernation (S4) states. Provides 
a preventative fix for this issue. 
- Fixes issue that generates cyclic redundancy check (CRC) errors on the hard 
drive, which may cause a "blue screen" error. Provides a preventative fix for 
this issue.

PREREQUISITES: 
One of the following hard drive models must be installed in the desktop model:
- 40.0-GB hard drive having Model Number HD040GJ/P and Part Number (P/N) 
409681-001
- 80.0-GB hard drive having Model Number HD080HJ/P and P/N 404587-001
- 80.0-GB hard drive having Model Number HD080HJ and P/N 380304-002
- 160.0-GB hard drive having Model Number HD160JJ/P and P/N 406682-001
- 160.0-GB hard drive having Model Number HD160JJ and P/N 380305-002

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: 
WARNING: DO NOT TURN OFF POWER OR ATTEMPT TO REBOOT THE COMPUTER DURING THE 
UPDATE PROCESS! 

1. Download the SoftPaq .EXE file to a directory on your hard drive.

2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions. After 
executing the file, the download directory (or specified location - default 
location is C:\SWSetup\SP33417) contains the a folder called FILES. The FILES 
folder contains the files that are needed to upgrade the Samsung hard drive by 
creating bootable media. 

To create bootable media and upgrade the firmware, complete the following 
steps:

1. Copy all the files contained in the FILES folder to your bootable device 
(for example, Disk-On-Key device).

2. Restart the desktop to a DOS prompt.

3. From the DOS prompt run the following command to start the upgrade process:
UPDATE.BAT

NOTE: If your desktop does not have a Samsung hard drive listed in the 
"Prerequisites" section or a Samsung hard drive that is installed in the 
desktop, the firmware upgrade will NOT be performed.
