NOTE: To determine the ROM family and ROM date, press 10 on the target notebook during startup to run the Setup Utility, and then view File/System Information. When this issue occurs, the notebook lid is closed when starting (booting) the notebook and the display of all the boot screens is cut off (the entire screen is not visible) on external display. The entire screen is not visible on the external display until the Microsoft Windows Desktop is displayed. PREREQUISITES: None HOW TO USE: 1. Download the SoftPaq .EXE file to a directory on your hard drive. NOTE: This SoftPaq enables the creation of a bootable diskette, CD, or USB Key. Be sure to have the selected media available before beginning Step 2. 2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions. When prompted, insert the appropriate media into the notebook (or attach to the notebook) and follow the on-screen instructions to create the bootable media. NOTE: After the selected bootable media has been created, the SoftPaq .EXE file downloaded in Step 2 can be deleted, if desired. 3. Power Off the notebook. IMPORTANT: DO NOT TURN OFF POWER TO THE COMPUTER WHILE PERFORMING THE PROCEDURE IN STEP 4! 4. Make sure the newly created bootable media is still attached or in the appropriate drive, and Power On the notebook. Follow the on-screen instructions to upgrade the System BIOS.
