DESCRIPTION:
This package contains an updated System BIOS release for the HP Workstation 
xw8400, packaged in a way that is easily usable within a Linux operating system 
environment. 

NOTE: To determine the BIOS family and BIOS date, press F10 on the target 
workstation during Power On to run the Computer Setup Utility, and then select 
File/System Information. This information can be saved into a text file on a 
diskette or on a USB flash media device by selecting File/Save to Diskette. In 
order for a USB flash media device to be recognized by the workstation, the 
device must be attached before the workstation is Powered On.

ENHANCEMENTS: 
- Adds support for Dual-Core Intel Xeon Processor 5100 Series Processors.

- Updates fan control values.
- Adds support for Compatible Revision ID (CRID).
- Changes the Memory Controller Hub Global Timeout Coefficient to the 
recommended default value.
- Changes the Computer Setup Utility (F10) to refer to CD-ROM and DVD-ROM 
devices as "Optical Drives."

FIXES: 
- Fixes an issue that prevents the run-time power management from being 
properly disabled from the Computer Setup Utility (F10).
- Eliminates a duplicate number that was used for two different Power-On 
Self-Test errors.
- Removes unintended debug code.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS: 
1. Download and extract the .TGZ file. For example, to extract the contents, at 
console prompt type (where ''filename'' is replaced by the name of the file to 
be extracted): 
''tar -xzvf filename.tgz''

This command extracts files to the directory 7D5_bios.
