DESCRIPTION:
This package creates a ROMPaq firmware diskette or CD-ROM that can be used to locally restore or upgrade the System BIOS in the listed notebook models with a 68DTT Family ROM. NOTE: To determine the ROM family and ROM date, press F10 on the target notebook during startup to run the Setup Utility, and then view File/System Information.

ENHANCEMENT(S):
- Adds support for 90-watt combination adapter.
- Improves thermal tables to minimize fan activity by changing the F10 Setup
"Fan Always On on AC" option to run the fan at 20 percent power
instead of 40 percent power. (The recommended setting for this option is
"Enable.") This change slows down the fan Power-On and Power-Off to reduce
fan noise during a rapid temperature increase.
FIxES:
- Fixes character issue in F10 Setup Utility for the Japanese language.

HOW TO USE:
1. Download the SoftPaq file to a directory on your hard drive.

2. Open the shell and run the following command to extract the package:
tar xf spxxxx.tar

3. Change the directory to the directory where the package has extracted in
Step 2.

4. Use the following command to execute the package:
sh spxxxx.sh

5. Follow the on-screen instructions to create either a bootable diskette or
a bootable CD.

NOTE: After creating a bootable diskette or CD, the SoftPaq file that was
downloaded in Step 1 may be deleted, if desired.

6. Power Off the notebook.

IMPORTANT: DO NOT TURN OFF POWER TO THE COMPUTER WHILE PERFORMING
STEP 7!

7. Place the newly created bootable diskette in Drive A, or place the bootable
CD in the CD-ROM drive, and restart the notebook to update the system BIOS.


After updating the BIOS to version F.0E, complete the following steps:

1. Remove the current version of the Quick Launch Buttons application from the
notebook.

2. From the HP website, download the latest version of the Quick Launch Buttons
SoftPaq.

3. Install the Quick Launch Buttons SoftPaq.
