DESCRIPTION:   This release provides updated system ROM images
for the latest maintenance releases of HP ProLiant DL580 G3 Servers.

	     1) Added support for new revisions of Intel Xeon MP processors.




Problems Fixed -


        HP ProLiant DL580 G3 system ROM P38 (11/11/2005)
        =================================================

	     1) Resolved an issue where a configuration error may be indicated
	        when attempting a memory board insertion at run-time in Hot-Plug
	        Mirroring mode or Hot-Plug RAID mode.  This issue would only
	        occur if a memory board is inserted, removed, and then quickly
	        re-inserted.  Delaying at least 5 minutes between the first
	        insertion and the second insertion prevents the problem.  When
	        the issue occurs, no harm has been done to the system.  Simply
	        remove the board, wait 5 minutes, and re-insert the memory board.
	        This version of the System ROM addresses this issue.

	     2) Resolved an issue that may result in a server hang during POST
	        when certain storage controllers are installed and more than 7
	        logical drive volumes are configured.  This issue may occur on
	        certain controllers, whether embedded or expansion card based,
	        if 8 or more blank drives are attached to the controller.  This
	        issue will occur with, but is not limited to, the HP 8 Port
	        SAS/SATA controller, HP Single-Channel U320 SCSI HBA G2 Controller,
	        and HP 64-Bit/133 MHz PCI-X Dual-Channel U320 Controller.

	     3) Resolved an issue where uncorrectable memory errors may be reported 
	        on the incorrect DIMMs when using Microsoft Windows 2003 x64 Edition.

HOW TO USE:


1.  Obtain a formatted 1.44 MB diskette.

2.  Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to that directory.
The file that is downloaded is SP31826.EXE.


3.  From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file:
SP31826.exe [ENTER]
You will be prompted to place the formatted 1.44 MB diskette into a diskette drive to
create diskette.


4.  After the diskette is created, you may delete the downloaded file
SP31826.EXE if you wish.
