TITLE: HP ProLiant BL e-Class Integrated Administrator VERSION: 4.00 Rev. A DESCRIPTION: This package contains the firmware image file for the HP ProLiant BL e-Class Integrated Administrator. NOTE: This package provides the initial release of the HP ProLiant BL e-Class Integrated Administrator firmware v4.00 to support the HP bc1500 Blade PC. The included readme.txt file contains detailed information about the fixes and enhancements provided in v4.00 of the Integrated Administrator firmware, as well as providing installation instructions for the HP ProLiant e-Class Enclosures used in the Consolidated Client Infrastructure (CCI) implementation. PURPOSE: Routine SOFTPAQ NUMBER: SP31338 SUPERSEDES: SP30883 EFFECTIVE DATE: November 1, 2005 CATEGORY: Firmware SSM SUPPORTED: No PRODUCT TYPE(S): Desktops HARDWARE PRODUCT MODEL(S): HP bc1500 Blade PC: All Models HP bc1000: All Models SOFTWARE PRODUCT(S): None OPERATING SYSTEM(S): Microsoft Windows XP Professional LANGUAGE(S): Global ENHANCEMENTS: - Adds support for new HP Blade PC model. FIXES: - Fixes issue where changes made to the enclosure serial number using the command 'SET ENCLOSURE SERIAL [NUMBER] ' were not persistent across reboots in v2.00. Additional help text information has also been added for this command. - Fixes issue where the boot parameters (HDD (Hard Disk), PXE (Network Boot), RBSU (F10 Setup)) for the 'POWERON BAY [ALL | bay number] {[PXE | HDD | RBSU]}' and 'REBOOT BAY [ALL | bay number] {[PXE | HDD | RBSU]}' commands did not correctly affect the next bay boot in v2.00. PREREQUISITES: N/A HOW TO USE: 1. Download the SoftPaq .EXE file to a directory on your hard drive. 2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions. 3. Place the firmware image file (cpqia400.bin) on an FTP, HTTP, or TFTP server that is network-accessible from the Integrated Administrator that you want to update. 4. Using Telnet, SecureSH, or a serial terminal, login as the Administrator on the Integrated Administrator that you want to update. 5. At the ''>'' prompt, type the following command: UPDATE IMAGE < url > Where < url > can be any of the following items: http://host/path ftp://host/path ftp://username:password@host/path tftp://host/path NOTE: In the previously listed items, ''host'' is a fully qualified domain name or IP address, and ''path'' is the pathname of the flash image to download, usually cpqia400.bin. 6. Type ''yes'' to confirm the flash update operation. The Integrated Administrator prompts all users to log off, then waits one minute, and then downloads the image file, verifies the image file, and finally re-programs its flash memory. Do not Power Off or reset the enclosure during this process. If the flash programming process is successful, the Integrated Administrator automatically restarts (reboots). NOTE: The Integrated Administrator firmware update process (including a restart) will not affect the operation of any server blades that may be running within the enclosure. If you are upgrading from Version 1.11 or earlier, the Integrated Administrator (after restarting) will temporarily lose access to server blade information (such as server name, MAC addresses, processor, memory, and so forth) until the next time each server blade is rebooted.
