NOTE: To determine the ROM family and ROM date, press F10 on the target notebook during startup to run the Setup Utility, and then view File/System Information. Once DMA mode is disabled, the system boots using PIO mode. HOW TO USE: 1. Download the SoftPaq file to a directory on your hard drive. 2. Open shell and run the following command to extract the package: tar xf spxxxx.tar 3. Use the following command to execute the package: sh spxxxx.sh 4. Follow the on-screen instructions to create either a bootable diskette or a bootable CD. NOTE: After creating a bootable diskette or CD, the SoftPaq file downloaded in Step 1 can be deleted, if desired. 5. Power Off the notebook. 6. Place the newly created bootable diskette in Drive A, or place the bootable CD in the CD-ROM drive, and restart the notebook to update the system BIOS.
