This package contains a Registry patch for the listed notebook models and operating systems that reduces the probability of the IDE transfer mode being changed to the slowest mode (PIO mode). For more information about this issue, refer to Microsoft Knowledge Base Article 817472, "IDE ATA and ATAPI disks use PIO mode after multiple time-out or CRC errors occur."
