Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive. 2. The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number above. 3. After extracting the files from the Softpaq, create a (DOS 6.x, Win95, Win98) bootable floppy and copy the AFU.EXE file located in the BootDisk directory to the boot diskette. 4. Format and Label a second diskette as “Adaptec 2610SA Firmware Disk 1”, then copy the file AA261001.UFI located in the Disk1 directory to the diskette. 5. Format and Label a third diskette as Adaptec 2610SA Firmware Disk 2”, then copy the file AA261002.UFI located in the Disk2 directory to the diskette. 6. Boot your system to the Boot diskette and run the AFU.EXE utility. 7. Once the Adaptec Flash Utility is running, select the appropriate controller and under the “Select an Operation” box, highlight the “Update flash image” option and press enter. 8. When prompted insert the appropriate firmware diskette into the floppy drive and select “OK” 9. After a few seconds a message will appear that reads the following. AFU is about to update firmware on controller(s) Adaptec 2610SA *** PLEASE DO NOT REBOOT THE SYSTEM DURING THE UPDATE *** This might take a few minutes. Select OK to continue. At this point press the enter key, and wait for the firmware flash operation to finish. 10.
