Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive. The file downloaded is a self-extracting executable with a filename based on the SoftPaq Number. 2. Self-extracting executable will launch Quick Release Sector Transfer utility (QRST5) that helps you in creating EFS diskettes. Follow the on-screen instructions. 3. If you have extracted and saved the following files in a directory for later use, you may create EFS floppies by following the procedure given in steps 4 till 10 below. SP30528._01 SP30528._02 SP30528._03 SP30528._04 SP30528._05 cpqefs.pkg QRST5.EXE README.TXT 4. Obtain five (5) 1.44-MB diskettes. IMPORTANT: Only 1.44 MB DOS formatted diskettes can be used, other types of media cannot be substituted. 5. Execute the QRST5.EXE program: QRST5 [ENTER] 6. When the "Select Diskettes in this set" prompt appears, choose the highlighted default selection "Do ALL of the diskettes in this set" by pressing ENTER. 7. The "Enter Destination Drive" prompt is given. Either A or B will be included in the prompt depending on where your 3.5 inch diskette drive is located. If the drive shown in the prompt is not the one you wish to use, change the value by pressing either A or B. At this point, you can optionally print a label (if your printer is attached) by pressing F9. Press ENTER to accept the diskette drive letter. The same screen will reappear. Press ENTER again to extract and decompress the diskette image. 8. The "Ready to copy diskette" prompt appears. It is asking for one 1.44 MB diskette. Verify that you have a formatted 1.44 MB diskette in the appropriate disk drive and press ENTER to begin diskette creation. 9. A counter box will be displayed during creation showing status. The number of cylinders will count up to 80 on a 1.44 MB floppy drive. 10. Repeat from step 7 until all five diskettes have been created. 11. When QRST5 has completed, it will exit back to DOS. At this point, the EFS 7.68a diskettes have been created and are ready to use. ---------- IMPORTANT: ---------- Please read all information in the README.TXT file on the documentation diskette before installing the EFS. NOTE: You can verify that you have valid EFS 7.68a diskettes by using the UNIX sum -r command: sum -r /dev/fd0 The following sum values should be displayed: HBA : 61945 EFS DISK1: 41817 EFS DISK2: 41465 EFS DISK3: 47245 The Documentation diskette is not a UNIX diskette, therefore does not need a sum.
