DESCRIPTION: This release provides a Single Point Solution
User ROMPaq diskette for the HP ProLiant DL380 G4 Servers.


New Features -

        P51 HP ProLiant DL380 G4 system ROM (04/18/2005)
        =========================================================

                   Added support for iSCSI adapters to be configured as the 
		   boot controller in the ROM-Based Setup Utility (RBSU).  
		   Certain iSCSI adapters previously would not show up in 
		   the boot controller menu in RBSU.

		   Added support for OS-level power management. When the Power 
		   Regulator feature is disabled (default), Demand Based 
		   Switching may be enabled under the operating system to 
		   provide processor power management. The operating system 
		   will modify the CPU's frequency and voltage based on CPU 
		   Utilization. This feature can be enabled under Microsoft 
		   Windows 2003 Service Pack 1 and future versions of the 
		   Linux kernel.



Problems Fixed -

        P51 HP ProLiant DL380 G4 system ROM (04/18/2005)
        =========================================================

                   Updated embedded PXE Option ROM to version 7.7.8. This 
		   Option ROM addresses an issue where the NIC could assert 
		   a spurious interrupt during PXE boots. If using a Smart 
		   Array 64X or Smart Array 6i controller with a firmware 
		   version prior to 2.36 and the previous PXE Option ROM, 
		   a lock-up or continuous reboot could occur when 
		   performing a PXE Remote Installation Services (RIS) 
		   installation of Windows.

		   Modified System ROM to properly show chassis type as rack 
		   mounted server for software querying chassis type from
		   the SMBIOS table.

		   Renamed Power Governor option in the ROM-Based Setup to  
		   Power Regulator for ProLiant to be consistent with other 
		   HP documentation. The option has been moved to the System 
		   Options Menu.

		   Prevented accessing configuration utilities for HP option 
		   cards if the Administrative Password is enabled but not 
		   properly entered.
		
		   Resolved issue where the HP Systems Insight Manager would 
		   not properly display expansion slot information for PCI-X
		   and PCI-Express slots.

		   Resolved issue where the system could hang during POST if 
		   the MPS Mode is set to Disabled in ROM-Based Setup.
	
		   Resolved issue in which HP Systems Insight Manager and other
		   third party software would display incorrect DIMM speed 
		   information. The DIMM speed would be incorrectly reported 
		   as 333 MHz instead of the actual operating frequency of 
		   400 MHz.  Note that this change does not in anyway affect 
		   the operation of the system.  The issue was simply with 
		   reporting the DIMM speed. The DIMMs have always correctly 
		   operated at 400 MHz.




HOW TO USE:

1.  Obtain a formatted 1.44 MB diskette.

2.  Download the SoftPaq to a directory on your hard drive and change to that directory.
The file that is downloaded is SP30189.EXE.

3.  From that drive and directory, execute the SoftPaq file:
SP30189.EXE [ENTER]
You will be prompted to place the formatted 1.44 MB diskette into a diskette drive to
create diskette.

4.  After the diskette is created, you may delete the downloaded file
SP30189.EXE if you wish.
