DESCRIPTION/PURPOSE: Firmware upgrade 0E16 for 16X DVD-ROM for HL-DT-ST DVD-ROM GDR8163B (Part 
Number 290992-MD0 / Option Kit 217053-B21). Provides support that enables DVD+R disks to boot properly.

This firmware upgrade only applies to the 16X DVD-ROM Drive Model GDR8163B, which is available 
as one of several integrated options or as an aftermarket option. 

The affected 16X DVD-ROM drive is identified in the System BIOS Setup and the 
Microsoft Windows Device Manager with the following description: 

	HL-DT-ST DVD-ROM GDR8163B

- Fixes issue where the server may not boot correctly from DVD+R media 
written as a bootable disk on the identified 16X DVD-ROM drive.

PREREQUISITES: 
- 16X DVD-ROM drive (Part Number 290992-MD0 / Option Kit 217053-B21) must be installed in the 
server. Affected 16X DVD-ROM drive is identified in the System BIOS Setup 
and the Microsoft Windows Device Manager with the following description: 

	HL-DT-ST DVD-ROM GDR8163B.

HOW TO USE: 
IMPORTANT: While installing this firmware update, do not Power Off the server. The firmware upgrade requires that you boot from a Dos 6.xx boot disk

This update requires a blank diskette.

1. Download the SoftPaq .EXE file to a directory on your hard drive.

2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.

4. Once the files are extracted, copy them to a blank diskette.

5. Boot the server using a DOS boot diskette and insert the diskette containing the flashup and firmware files.

6. At the A:\ prompt, type flashup 3016E00A.DLD and press <Enter>.

7. After the firmware update has completed, remove the diskette from the diskette 
drive and restart the server by cycling the power.

The firmware for the DVD-ROM drive is now updated.
