DESCRIPTION:
This package creates a bootable diskette or bootable CD that contains a 
firmware update for the NVIDIA Quadro FX 3400 PCI Express Video Card installed 
in the listed workstation models.

- Attempting to use Windows driver 61.71 (or earlier) or Linux driver 61.11 (or 
earlier) will result in hardware detection issues and possibly corruption of 
the video that is displayed. Windows driver 61.82 (or later) or Linux driver 
66.28 (or later) must be installed after updating to this version of the video 
BIOS. SoftPaqs containing updated drivers are available at:

ENHANCEMENTS: 
- Changes Device Subsystem ID from 0x01FF10DE to 0x029B10DE in order to improve 
product availability and to correct a factory video BIOS flash issue.

HOW TO USE: 
IMPORTANT: The BIOS contained in this SoftPaq changes the hardware Device 
Subsystem ID from 0x01FF10DE to 0x029B10DE. As a result of this change, after 
the video BIOS flash is complete, an updated driver must be installed. SoftPaqs 
containing updated drivers are available at: 
http://www.hp.com/go/workstationsupport

TO CREATE A BOOTABLE CD:
1. Download the SoftPaq .EXE file to a directory on your hard drive.

2. Execute the downloaded file. By default, the SoftPaq unpacks files to the 
following folder: C:\SWSETUP\SP29146.

3. Insert a blank CD-R or CD-RW disc into the CD-RW drive.

4. Start the CD writing software, such as Roxio or MyCD, and select the option 
to create a CD from an ISO image. If needed, refer to the CD writing software 
documentation for help with using ISO images.

5. Select the file C:\SWSETUP\SP29146\MAKECD\FX3400_5.40.02.17.17.ISO as the 
ISO image to use.

6. Write and finalize the CD.

7. After the CD has been created, the SoftPaq .EXE file downloaded in Step 1 
can be deleted, if desired.

8. To install the video BIOS update, insert the CD into the CD-ROM drive of the 
workstation to be updated and restart the workstation. The workstation boots 
from the CD. If the workstation does not start from the CD, refer to the 
workstation documentation for help with booting from a CD.

9. Follow the on-screen instructions.

10. Once the video BIOS update is complete, remove the CD and cycle power to 
the workstation.

11. Install the updated display driver (see ''Customer Notes'' for SoftPaq 
location and minimum driver version).


TO CREATE A BOOTABLE DISKETTE:
1. Download the SoftPaq .EXE file to a directory on your hard drive.

2. Execute the downloaded file. By default, the SoftPaq unpacks files to the 
following folder: C:\SWSETUP\SP29146.

3. Insert a blank 1.44-MB diskette in Drive A:. This diskette will be erased by 
the SoftPaq. Before proceeding, make certain the diskette is not write 
protected, does not contain viruses,
