DESCRIPTION:
This package contains the Bluetooth USB Device Firmware Update (DFU) Utility 
for the listed desktop models and operating systems. 

The Bluetooth DFU utility is used to upgrade or reconfigure the firmware for 
the HP USB Bluetooth Transceiver 1.2. The firmware can be reconfigured to use 
either the native Microsoft Windows XP Bluetooth drivers or the WIDCOMM 
Bluetooth software. The HP USB Bluetooth Transceiver 1.2 ships configured for 
use the WIDCOMM Bluetooth software.

If you choose not to install the WIDCOMM software that is provided with the HP 
USB Bluetooth Transceiver 1.2, you can reconfigure the transceiver to use the 
Microsoft Bluetooth drivers included in Microsoft Windows XP Service Pack 2 
(SP2) in order to enable Bluetooth components to function in Bluetooth wireless 
mode. 

The Microsoft Bluetooth drivers included in Microsoft Windows XP SP2 do not 
provide "first boot" or "recovery" capabilities. For recovery and first boot 
requirements, a wired USB keyboard and/or mouse should be readily available. In 
addition, if the Microsoft Bluetooth drivers are used, the Connect button on 
the USB transceiver does not function.

The Microsoft drivers support limited Bluetooth profiles. Check the Microsoft 
website at www.microsoft.com for updated listings.

NOTES:
"First boot" capability refers to the ability to use a Bluetooth wireless 
keyboard and Bluetooth wireless mouse in USB emulation mode while the computer 
boots, then switching to Bluetooth wireless mode (once the operating system has 
loaded) without connecting a wired keyboard to enable the system to recognize 
the keyboard.

"Recovery" capability refers to the ability to replace a faulty Bluetooth 
wireless keyboard with a functioning Bluetooth wireless keyboard without first 
being required to connect a wired keyboard to enable the system to recognize 
the keyboard.

PREREQUISITES: 
- To use the WIDCOMM software, the HP USB Bluetooth BTW is required. This 
software is available on the CD that ships with the HP USB Bluetooth 
Transceiver 1.2 or in SoftPaq SP27482 (or later).

- To use the Microsoft drivers, Microsoft Windows XP with SP2 is required. 

HOW TO USE: 
1. Download the SoftPaq .EXE file to a directory on your hard drive.

2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.
