SOFTPAQ NUMBER: SP28972 PART NUMBER: 364864-006 FILE NAME: SP28972.EXE TITLE: Systems ROMPaq Firmware Upgrade Diskette for HP ProLiant DL585 G1 Servers. VERSION: 4.05A LANGUAGE: English CATEGORY: ROMPaqs DIVISIONS: Systems PRODUCTS AFFECTED: HP ProLiant DL585 G1 OPERATING SYSTEM: ALL SYSTEM CONFIGURATION: N/A PREREQUISITE: N/A EFFECTIVE DATE: October 18, 2004 ELECTRONIC DISTRIBUTION ALLOWED: Yes SOFTPAQ UTILITY VERSION: 2.X SUPERSEDES: SP28588 DESCRIPTION: This release provides updated system ROM images for the latest maintenance releases of HP DL585 G1 Servers. New Features - ProLiant DL585 G1 ROM A01 (09/30/2004) ============================================ Added initial support for the future x86 64-bit extensions Windows operating system. This support is only needed for the 64-bit extensions version of the HP System Management Driver. If not using the System Management Driver under this operating system, this support has no impact. Added support to display a warning message during POST if the system is configured to enable Node Interleaving in ROM-Based Setup but the current DIMM configuration does not allow Node Interleaving to be enabled. Previously, the ROM just disabled Node Interleaving in this case without informing the user. Added new ROM-Based Setup Advanced Option called Expansion Card Caching Optimization. Enabling this option allows very rare expansion cards (such as Quadrics Elan) to cache their I/O resources for improved performance. The card and its driver must support this optimization to take advantage of this feature. Unless an expansion card is installed, this option should be left disabled. Problems Fixed - ProLiant DL585 G1 ROM A01 (09/30/2004) ============================================ Updated to resolve issue where Node Interleaving was disabled even though configured to enabled in ROM-Based Setup for dual-processor configurations. Updated to resolve issue created in the 07/26/2004 System ROM where POST indicated an invalid memory configuration and halted the system during boot for memory configurations that were not invalid. This issue typically occurred when DIMMs from different vendors were on the same processor/memory board. While all DIMMs on a processor/ memory board must be the same type, there is no requirement that the DIMMs be from the same vendor. HOW TO USE: 1. Obtain a formatted 1.44 MB diskette. 2.
