DESCRIPTION:
This package contains the System BIOS image (BIOS Family 786B8) and local and 
remote BIOS flash utilities for the HP Workstation xw8200. System BIOS is 
operating system independent.

The BIOS family and BIOS date can be determined by pressing F10 on the target 
workstation during system Power On to run the Setup Utility, and then selecting 
File/System Information. This information can be saved into a text file on a 
diskette or on a USB flash media device by selecting File/Save to Diskette. In 
order for a USB flash media device to be recognized by the system, the device 
must be attached before the workstation is Powered On.

ENHANCEMENTS: 
- Adds ASF 1.0 support (alerts and remote control via network controller).
- Adds "Lock Legacy Resources" option in Computer Setup Utility (F10). When 
unlocked, the operating system can override the Setup password to modify 
assignments for serial and parallel ports. It is locked by default.
- Adds SERR/NMI generation on chipset/PCI errors.
- Enables Thermal Monitoring 2 (TM2) for E0-stepping processors that support 
this capability.

FIXES: 
- Allows mixing D0- and E0-stepping processors in a dual-processor system; the 
D0-stepping processor must be the boot processor (CPU1, top position).
- Changes some Setup menu items to ensure that each string is unique.
- Corrects the interrupt declaration for the onboard network controller in the 
MPS table (used by Linux).
- Updates the fan-control algorithm.
- Fixes memory reporting and caching on configurations with 8 GB or more of 
memory.
- Enables support of NVIDIA Quadro FX540 and FX1400 graphics cards.
- Changes the internal interrupt routing to prevent a potential condition where 
the workstation stops responding.
- Updates the PCI configuration code to use smaller memory ranges.
- Sets the "max payload size" field on PCI Express cards to 256 bytes.

HOW TO USE: 
1. Download the SoftPaq .EXE file to a directory on your hard drive.

2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions to update 
the System BIOS.

3. If remote flashing is needed, refer to the remote utility documentation for 
instructions about creating a Remote ROM Flash job to flash the System ROM on 
target workstations on the network. 

IMPORTANT: DO NOT TURN OFF POWER OR ATTEMPT TO REBOOT THE COMPUTER DURING THE 
UPGRADE PROCESS!
