Download the SoftPaq .EXE file to a directory on your hard drive. 2. Execute the downloaded file to expand the BIOS package in the target directory location. 3. Insert a formatted 3.5-inch diskette in the notebook's diskette drive. 4. Execute MakeBoot.bat, which is located in the MakeBoot subdirectory, to create a bootable BIOS update diskette. To Update the BIOS Using the Bootable Diskette ============================================== 1. Make sure that the HP Rugged Notebook nr3610 is Powered Off. 2. Make sure that the HP Rugged Notebook nr3610 is attached to external power. 3. Insert a media bay diskette drive into the HP Rugged Notebook nr3610. 4. Insert the bootable BIOS update diskette that you created into the media bay diskette drive. 5. Restart (boot) the HP Rugged Notebook nr3610. 6. If the notebook does not boot from the diskette drive, then configure the HP Rugged Notebook nr3610, as follows: a) While the notebook is booting, press the DEL key when you see the message: "Press DEL to enter SETUP." b) In the BIOS Setup screen, select "CMOS Setup Menu" and then select "Boot." c) Change the Bootup sequence to read as follows: 1st Boot Device [1st Floppy Drive] 2nd Boot Device [HDD (Model name)] 3rd Boot Device [CD/DVD] d) Save settings and exit. 7.
