DESCRIPTION:
This package contains utilities that can be used to restore or update the 
system BIOS on the listed desktop models with a 786C1 BIOS.

Several methods for changing the BIOS version may be chosen. Included in this 
package are the following methods:
- Create a ROMpaq bootable BIOS upgrade/restore diskette.
- Use HPQFlash to upgrade the BIOS directly in a Microsoft Windows 
environment.
- Create a ROMpaq bootable BIOS upgrade/restore CD.

This package can be used with SSM, HPCMS, or PXE management software for remote 
updating of the BIOS.

NOTE: The BIOS Family and BIOS date can be determined by pressing F10 on the 
target computer during system Power On to run the Setup Utility, and then 
selecting File/System Information. This information can be saved into a text 
file on a diskette or on a USB flash media device by selecting File/Save to 
Diskette. In order for a USB flash media device to be recognized by the system, 
the device must be attached before the computer is Powered On.

ENHANCEMENTS: 
NOTE: For HP Compaq Business Desktop dc7100 Convertible Minitower and HP Compaq 
Business Desktop dc7100 Small Form Factor models, this SoftPaq, BIOS Version 
1.53, is a web release only and will not replace BIOS Version 1.05 in the 
factory. For HP Compaq Business Desktop dx6100 Microtower and HP Compaq 
Business Desktop dx6100 Slimtower models, BIOS Version 1.53 is a new factory 
release that will be shipped on new models, replacing BIOS version 1.06 in the 
factory. For HP Compaq Business Desktop dc7100 Ultra-Slim Desktop models, BIOS 
version 1.53 is the initial shipping BIOS.

- Extends Drivelock support to all hard drives that support the ATA Security 
Command set.
- Modifies the diskette interrupt 13h "Get Media Type" service to correctly 
indicate whether the detected media type is the default for the drive.
- Adds support for PCI Express x1 video adapters.

FIXES: 
- Corrects an issue with Replicated Setup that caused an incorrect number of 
cylinders to be used when a hard drive was being reconfigured for User 
Translation mode.
- Corrects an issue that prevented access to a MultiBay hard drive after the 
operating system resumed from Standby (S3) mode if Drivelock was enabled on the 
drive and the Master password was used to unlock the drive during the previous 
startup.
- Corrects an issue with the MultiBay option that prevented the cover sensor 
from reporting the cover removal warning when the desktop is in the Soft Power 
Off (S5) state.
- Prevents non-critical errors generated by some PCI Express graphics cards 
from causing the system to stop responding (hang).

2. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.
