DESCRIPTION:
Firmware upgrade 0B26 for 16x DVD-ROM for HL-DT-ST DVD-ROM GDR8163B, Part 
Number 290992-MD0. Corrects a problem booting from DVD+R discs.

This firmware upgrade only applies to one 16X DVD-ROM drive, which is available 
as one of several integrated options or as an aftermarket option. 

The affected 16X DVD-ROM drive is identified in the System BIOS Setup and the 
Microsoft Windows Device Manager with the following description: HL-DT-ST 
DVD-ROM GDR8163B.

ENHANCEMENTS:

- Fixes issue where the workstation may not boot correctly from DVD+R media 
written as a bootable disc on the identified 16X DVD-ROM drive.
-Fixes an issue that occurs when copying DVD+R discs in Roxio Easy CD/DVD 
Creator.

PREREQUISITES: 
- 16X DVD-ROM drive (Part Number 290992-MD0) must be installed in the 
workstation. Affected 16X DVD-ROM drive is identified in the System BIOS Setup 
and the Microsoft Windows Device Manager with the following description: 
HL-DT-ST DVD-ROM GDR8163B.
- Blank diskette.

HOW TO USE: 
IMPORTANT: While installing this firmware update, do not Power Off, Suspend, or 
Hibernate the workstation. Close all applications and remove any disc from the 
DVD-ROM drive before starting the update.

This update requires a blank diskette.

1. Download the SoftPaq .EXE file to a directory on your hard drive.

2. Close all applications and remove any discs from the workstation optical 
drives.

3. Execute the downloaded file and follow the on-screen instructions.

4. When the Command Shell window is displayed, insert the blank diskette in the 
diskette drive and press any key (while the Command Shell window is selected).

5. Wait a few minutes for the program to create the Firmware Update diskette.

6. Leave the diskette in the diskette drive and restart the workstation.

7. The workstation should boot from the diskette and begin the DVD-ROM drive 
firmware update. Follow any on-screen instructions.

8. After the firmware update is complete, remove the diskette from the diskette 
drive and restart the workstation by cycling the power.

The firmware for the DVD-ROM drive is now updated.
