- This package is ONLY for RedHat 9 Linux running kernel 2.4.20-8.2.x. 

NOTE: This package will NOT work for any other kernel or OS version. To obtain 
an update for any other Linux image other than the one specified, please visit 
the Adaptec website. 


HOW TO USE: 
1. Download and unpack the TAR & GZIPPED archive by using 'tar -xvzf 
bcm5700-6.0.2-2.4.20_8.2.i386.tgz.

2. Install the binary rpm, bcm5700-6.0.2-2.4.20_8.2.i386.rpm using the RedHat 
Package Manger. To do this, with root privilages, type at a console prompt:

'rpm -qva | grep bcm'  to find out if you already have a version of the bcm5700 
driver installed.  If you do, use:
 
'rpm -U bcm5700-6.0.2-2.4.20_8.2.i386.rpm'

otherwise use:

'rpm -ivh bcm5700-6.0.2-2.4.20_8.2.i386.rpm

3. Add ‘alias eth0 bcm5700’ to the /etc/modules.conf file if it's not already 
there.
 
4. Reboot and configure the bcm5700 networking driver when Kudzu prompts you. 
Also select to migrate networking configuration when Kudzu prompts you.

5. Begin using the updated driver.
